A Writing Life
Ok, so Snitow doesn't think I'm stupid. In fact, she said I was intelligent. She said she had developed a theory: that the problem was with my writing. I don't lead the reader very well. I assume that they know what I'm talking about. Blah, blah, blah. So that's that. I told her that I had to write a thesis by May and she immediately said that she would help me. So that's awesome. I'm hoping my advisor will be her co-prof and she can deal with the identity side and that Snitow can be my writing coach. Another interesting aspect of the meeting is that she thinks I can use an element of memoir in my thesis. This came up because I can never discuss my interests in the ambiguities of identity without going into my life. And just when it couldn't get bad enough, I remembered today that my cultural criticism class will be critiquing the page of my memoir that the prof handed back last week. I'm not looking forward to that.
