Alleviating IPod Woes
I love my iPod, but when there are problems with it, I can barely handle the frustration. The most recent came when I downloaded iTunes 5, mandated to do so as I was by Apple. Once the update was complete, I noticed that Leo (the name of my iPod) wasn't playing the purchased music. Pissed. Realized it was the iPod updater. Downloaded it. Still didn't work. Finally, I was reminded that you have to physically update the situation. And finally I did. Last night. And it worked. My purchased music is now sitting peacefully on Leo, and I am sitting peacefully listening to it. Speaking of iTunes and purchased music, my good friend and roommate, the lovely and talented Jill Stevenson, is a musician. And not just any musician. The girl blows her pipes and plays the piano and guitar as though it's required of her to live. Well, it is a requirement, but that's her story to write. My job here is to direct all eight of you to Apple's site to download for free a version of iTunes if you don't already have it. It's easy to use and blows all the other music-playing apps out of the water in my opinion. Once it's on your computer, go to the Music Store, which is accessible from the left pane, and do a search on Jill. Two of her albums are available for purchase and she gets ninety percent of the proceeds. GO BUY HER MUSIC. Thank you. In other music news, good friend David Riggs, who has had the pleasure of watching me grow up since I was 23 and has imparted many good words to me throughout my ups and downs, is a musician. He's been playing the fiddle (violin...whatever) since he was a six-foot kid and is in a band called Riggity Jig. They're playing a gig this Saturday at the Royal Oak Pub & Restaurant in Sacramento. So Sac dwellers, on the heels of the Monarchs (right on!) first championship, go celebrate over the din of Celtic music. If I were there, I'd go. All right. That's a bit of an update. Not necessarily on my life because that would take too long and I want to get some writing in before heading to work. Yes. Writing. I'm well on my way in this book. I couldn't imagine when I started it how I would feel just thinking about it. Knowing I have an hour or so before leaving for work to get my hands dirty with words actually gets me excited. I'm in a bit of a lull now only because I have some going back to do in order to not lose where I'm headed. That's what I will do this morning. There's much more to say, but I don't want to say it now. The next big story I have requires pictures and prose and I want to do it up right. I promise the time that passes before the story will not be as long as the time that passed before my last one. A good Thursday all around.
