Beer and Wings
They were the highlight of my day. Falling asleep last night to the wonderful sound of rain, I didn't much look forward to waking up, because of my paper. I didn't do anything with it today but think about it. Tomorrow.
It's always tomorrow. But I have no plans to leave my place once I get home from work and I will be parked in front of my computer, which my roommate refers to as my baby. I'm finally scared to death about doing this thesis and I've got six weeks to put something together. My advisors get it this weekend.
Speaking of advisors, I ran into the one that I unofficially fired. I didn't feel awkward at all as I passed her in the lobby. We exchanged smiling greetings, she bumped into someone, and I went out the door. She shouldn't have lost my papers. While not writing tonight, I watched a little television. And I discovered another reason to like Verizon.
They have this ad campaign now whose commercials contain a biracial family. Black and white. It may not be a big deal for some folks, but I noticed it immediately. At times, I don't think representations of the sort are so significant, but there was something about this one that made it stand out. Maybe that there was no force applied to the message.
Except maybe that one of the boys said "dad" a couple of times. It's only 12:30 and I'm going to sleep. I've accepted the fact that I can't think while staring at a blank screen. Or a screen full of words that I have no desire at the moment to re-read. So sleep seems like a good option. I think the trip to California messed my sleep up. Or, rather, fixed it. Great.
