Book Report
I never did come back with the goods on our book excursion last weekend. It was more like a book haven. A book ice cream cone with hot fudge and white chocolate bits sprinkled throughout. In short, it was life.
The hall was organized pretty much the way I remembered it being in January. There was the un-priced section, which had tables upon tables of books for basically $.50. Then there is the priced section. Plan to pay just a tad more than that, though perhaps not quite the prices you'd see at a used bookstore. And all of the sections are separated by walls you can't scale unless you either pay or walk out empty handed. Fat chance.
Then there was the extra special section where the books went for used bookstore prices. Like an idiot, I went there first. I don't know what I was thinking then or when I got to the cash register and forked over $11 for three books! Next time (and we will be driving 16 hours from Sydney next summer winter for this) I will not go to that section first.
We then went to the un-priced section where I strained my neck in pursuit of a manageable target, which I hadn't set. I'd have taken 100 if I could have. But, sadly, I only got 36 from that section and paid $20. See? Life.
And don't think I didn't hear the announcer guy, who traipsed the halls in a safari outfit, replete with hat and binoculars and a walking stick, say that on the fourth day they will be having a sale. I went back and added 10 to my load. I can't wait for next year.
