GI Joe, Savion Glover, Blizzards and Renee Zellweger
A lot has happened during the past week but my inability (read lack of motivation) to form cohesive sentences has prevented me from writing about any of it. So here I am, willing to do some catch-up because I think some of it is interesting. I received a grade from England finally.
Last Monday, I checked and there was nothing. So I e-mailed Joseph, the Historical Studies (because New School can't just call it History) Department secretary. I referred to myself as the pest from Liberal Studies still curious about the slavery grade in an e-mail to him, so as to deter him from getting too annoyed; he responded:
"Catherine, I have many pests, but you have become one of my favorites"
Talked directly to Blackburn on Tuesday and he obfuscated, but said he is doing his best. He has truly become an unfavorable best.
Seems like I'm not the only one annoyed with Sir Blackburn. In a later e-mail responding to my getting a grade, he said: Maybe you guys should get his evaluations back, and re-do them in light of his irresponsibility. Glad you finally got the grade!!!Lorena, Renata, Brenda, Helen, Marcela and myself, of course, at the birthday gathering. I told them that I wanted to do a South American tour this summer and stay with all of them. That won't happen but I'll always have a place to stay now. And Helen's Australian so I'm going all over the globe. After that, I was convinced to get into a car full of Venezuelans (Brenda and her friends) to go to a bar. I finally got home at 4:30. It was annoying. I was tired. But I had a good time. Last night, I went to this place called Superfine in Dumbo. It was right down the street from the site of my criminal acts of December 2002. I went with Jessie and a friend of hers. I really like it there. The best part was that I met Jessie's friend's colleague (they work at Superfine -- sorry if you're confused; I haven't the energy to be more clear) who is a bartender. It's always good to be cool with the bartenders. I left that place around 3 a.m. and caught the A train back to Manhattan. It was so eerie down in the subway because there was no one around. So quiet. I was right back in Dumbo tonight at Cornelia's house. When I got there, the snow had just begun. It wasn't bad at all. When I left, it had escalated into a blizzard. It was awesome. I looked for the highest points of accumulated snow to see how deep it was. It was fun. I'm easily amused, which is an important trait in these trying times. There are supposed to be some more blizzard conditions tomorrow. I'll take the camera out with me. Tomorrow is a holiday, which is no big deal because I basically have five-day weekends every week anyway. I do have Spanish on Monday evenings, but because I don't have it tomorrow night, I get to go to the Actors Studio and watch the filming of "Inside the Actors Studio" with Renee Zellweger. Wonder if I'll get to see a little Roxie Hart come out of her. This is the benefit of living with the two actors. They're going to save me a seat.
And speaking of Savion Glover. My mom went to see Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk a little bit ago with my aunt. The other day, a package arrived for me from my mom. Inside were the following prized possessions: A signed program, whose signatures included one of the drummers (don't know to what I'm referring? See the show. It's still on tour), the lead woman, and one of the female tappers; a keychain in the shape of a tap; AND A SAVION GLOVER SIGNED T-SHIRT!!! It's going in a frame. Thanks, Mom! I'm teaching my gender class in a week and a half. I'm looking forward to it. I've got 120+ pages worth of material to present. Should be fun. Nothing like jumping off a cliff. What else? I've been in a strangely aggressive state recently. A little depression. A little anxiety. A little angst. A little frustration. Don't know why. Well I do, but I won't go into it here. Any suggestions of natural remedies (besides therapy) are welcome.
