I’m Back…For a Minute
I just wanted to post a quick "hello"; I feel bad for not keeping you better abreast (and there's nothing wrong with a breast) of my activities.
The conference was two days ago. It was actually a fun experience. That anticipation I felt while waiting for the other two to present their papers was a bit much but I made it. Elzbieta was there in support (she called me on Monday with some edits), as were a bunch of other friends from my program, as well as a few people I had never seen before. I'd say there were about 20 or so people there. Not a packed house at all, which was fine by me. I heard that I did a good job and that my paper was good. I got a lot of feedback on it from people and I paid attention to it and so found myself working on it a lot for a week or so. You can read my paper if you want. I think it'll download to your computer. Let me know if you have problems and I'll just tell you that I don't know how to fix it.Now that the conference is over, I have five weeks (my god!) to concentrate on the papers for my classes. I'm going to extend my conference paper and submit that for Elzbieta's class.
For my gender paper, I'm going to trace the historical emergence of transgenderism throughout the 20th century out of the categories of masculinity and femininity. For my other class, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm not happy with my classes anymore and I just want this semester to be over so I can stress out about finding an apartment. This is all just a shitload of fun. Not to mention that it's still cold. I miss my legs. Ok, I'm gonna get back to Judith Butler's Gender Trouble. You should all read it. I dare you.
