Oh, Renee

I watched the taping of "Inside the Actors Studio" tonight with Renee Zellweger. She's adorable. And very humble. It will air on March 9 on Bravo at 8 p.m. I won't be in any of the audience shots, but that shouldn't deter you from tuning in.  It was snowing when I left late this (yesterday) morning.

By the end of the day, the sky was clear. Apparently we're in for some flooding because of the warming trend that appears to be around the corner. Wonderful. Meanwhile, we're wading in slush and following the narrow walkways that have been dug in the snow on each corner. It's interesting. Good thing I'm sure-footed. Good thing for my Coleman snow boots.Class was annoying today. I was really tired and not feeling that well (so it's a good thing I'm still awake). Gender was annoying because the professor just regurgitated the articles we read for this week.... all five of them. Jesus. And they were on the women's suffragist movement. The only interesting article was the one that examined the racism of the women's clubs that characterized the movement.

Unfortunately, these clubs were a model for the mechanics of the feminist movement that erupted during the 70s. Unable to align along strict gender lines, black and white women remained a separate entity, divided by race, thus eliminating any chance for a gender alliance among women. Or is that a sex alliance? But who says all women should get along? And for that matter, who says all blacks should get along? This is the crux of the readings for next week. Kind of. They actually look at what black women felt about their exclusion from the feminist movement. Today, there really was no discussion. I paid two cents of my own mind but it didn't go far. She said, "that's right" and went to the next article and I went to the bathroom. I'm leading the next seminar, so we'll see what happens. I better start the reading. Anybody heard of Ben Harper? Check him out. He's flowing through my ears now. I love rediscovering music that I haven't listened to in a while.
