That’s All She Wrote
I attended my last first class tonight of my time at New School University. I have one more next spring, but I don't count that because it's a pro-seminar for my thesis. It's fitting, then, that this class, Representations of Race and Gender in American Popular Culture, appears to be amazing.
I've been looking forward to now for about a year and a half. I had a stupid grin on my face practically the whole time. Well, the grin was more inside. I was taking in everything the profs were saying and I felt that academic excitement well up in me again. It felt really good. I'd love to go into it more right now, but I'm really tired. I think with all of the financial aid stuff, the concerning myself with figuring out my life after grad school, and putting this damn desk together, it's finally caught up with me. I have a feeling my night of sleep will be a good one. I will say this, though. I've also just "finished" my first assignment for my writing class. I'm not happy with it right now.
Unfortunately, it's due tomorrow. Even though I knew what I was writing about for a week, I didn't really get going on it until this morning. I got some comments from a classmate, which helped me get going. We'll see how it turns out. I think my writing tool is a bit rusty, which has left my brain a little exhausted. Now I'm going to go find my copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin, which I have to read for Race and Gender and then I'm going to bed. Early. G'night.
