The Joy of a Queen

You know how you can love a band but not hear them for a while and then your love happens to be rekindled by a simple mention and you're all about them again? Jill asked me tonight what my favorite Queen song was. I looked at her, crazy-like, and said, "I can't answer that question." I love Queen, I told her. She plans on covering "Somebody to Love," she told me, and all of a sudden, all of these other songs that she could cover popped into my head. I loaned her the fifteen or so CDs of theirs I have and will, upon her request, compiled a list of the songs I don't ever want to be without: From "Innuendo" Don't Try So Hard The Show Must Go On I'm Going Slightly Mad  From "A Day at the Races" You Take My Breath Away Somebody to Love Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy  From "Jazz" Fat Bottomed Girls Bicycle Race Let Me Entertain You Don't Stop Me Now  From "News of the World" We Will Rock You We Are the Champions Sheer Heart Attack All Dead, All Dead Get Down, Make Love My Melancholy Blues   From "Queen" Keep Yourself Alive Great King Rat Liar Seven Seas of Rhye  From "Queen II" Procession Some Day One Day Father to Son Ogre Battle The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke Nevermore  From "The Game" Another One Bites the Dust Crazy Little Thing Called Love Don't Try Suicide Sail Away Sweet Sister Save Me  From "The Works" Radio Ga Ga I Want to Break Free Is This the World We Created  From "Sheer Heart Attack" Brighton Rock Flick of the Wrist Lily of the Valley Now I'm Here Stone Cold Crazy Dear Friends Bring Back That Leroy Brown  From "A Night at the Opera" Death on Two Legs I'm in Love With My Car '39 Seaside Rendezvous Love of My Life Bohemian Rhapsody  From "Hot Space" Under Pressure    And it all started with a greatest hits vinyl album my mom bought for me when I was eight years old.
