Tim Russert

I've never been so into following the political drama than I have this year. Of course the reason is the drama-ridden Democratic primary, but I wouldn't be able to dissect it without the talking heads I turn to every day. Tim Russert was one of those heads.

I hadn't looked at the news yet today, surprisingly, and so I decided a quick check was in order. Painless, you know. And there were all the headlines. I can't believe he died. I'm probably more surprised by the shock I felt. I looked forward to hearing his thoughts on primary nights and I definitely looked forward to watching every episode of Meet the Press through to the election and beyond.

Meet the Press is broadcast at 4:00 a.m. Monday here. I managed to catch it once during an all-nighter. I just watched a couple of episodes online the other day. And I loved watching him poke holes in things people would say. Uncover sound bites and quotes from years before to build up his momentum before BAM! His guests would be nailed. I looked forward to his take on the things I was watching. His commentary on the drama and his thoughts on what was to come.

I can't believe he's dead. It's fucked up.
